NJ PALMYRA — Palmyra introduces 2026 budget with 2.41 percent property tax increase. The Borough Council voted 6-0 on March 28 to advance a $12.3 million budget that raises the municipal property tax rate to 1.49483 per $100 of assessed valuation, translating to an additional $52.37 annually for the average homeowner. The borough is drawing $2,075,000 from its fund balance to limit the increase.
Major budget additions include two new police patrol officers with sign-on bonuses, new Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief positions, a long-vacant Deputy Clerk role, and nearly quadrupled road salt appropriations to $38,000 following harsh winter weather. A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for May 4.
